George wins Product of the Year Award for Best Documentation Tool
PALO ALTO, February 22, 1996-- QualSoft Corporation and K2 Software Developments announced the availability of George Version 3.0. George, winner of the 1995 X Industry Achievement Product of the Year Award for Best Documentation Tool, will now support Windows NT, Windows 95 and Windows 3.1, in addition to SunOS, Solaris and HP-UX. A new user interface featuring the popular "Wizard" approach lets users become productive within minutes instead of hours.
"Source code documentation has always been the step-child of the development process," said Laurent Gharda, president of QualSoft, North American distributor for George. "Companies rarely think twice about spending for software developer productivity tools such as run-time error detectors and other tools, yet little investment is made in software documentation, where considerable developer time is spent on the task after code completion. Now, with George 3.0, the return on investment is quickly achieved, with tool payback coming in weeks while product quality is enhanced," Gharda continued.
"Not only will George automatically produce documents which meet your internal, FDA, ISO-9001, Milspec, CMM or other specification for source code documentation, George is also used throughout the development process," said Peter Parsonage, Managing Director of K2 Software Developments, "assisting newcomers to a project to come up to speed quickly, facilitating code understanding, reviews and reuse. Until now, little could be done but to divert developers from the development process to document the results of their efforts after the fact. More realistically, most production code today ships with no up-to-date internals documentation whatsoever, creating possible software maintenance or legal liabilities. With George, the automated C/C++ source code information engine, developers can free up countless hours currently spent on code documentation. George will ensure that the documentation of the project never lags, and that all developers can easily pick up where others left off," Parsonage concluded.
